Praying in a Prostrate Position
Matthew 26:39: "And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."
Problem:: Islamic tradition requires that Moslems should pray by bending their faces to the ground. They cite this verse (and its parallel in Mark 14:35) to "prove" that Jesus followed this tradition in the way that he prayed.
Solution:

The fact that Jesus prayed once in this attitude does not mean that he always did so.
This was not the time of the ritual prayers of Islam; it was long after midnight, the last supper being ended. (John 13:30 tells us that it was already night during the last supper).
The words of Jesus' prayer were well away from any Moslem traditional formula; among other things he addressed God as his father.
Jesus taught the disciples how to pray in Matthew 6:5-15; this does not specify any posture at all, leaves out almost every element of Moslem ritual prayer and requires address to God as Father.
